Launching a Canadian Dream – 2003 Ottawa Winterlude
A youthful explorer is elevated by the winds of freedom. He soars high on his pride of Canada, his individual freedom as he rides his ideals, an imaginary paper airplane.
The youth represents Canada our young optimist culture. The Spirit of Canada soars on a paper airplane that represents our Canadian ideals of peace, tolerance, and acceptance rather than military might. The paper airplane flies high on winds of personal freedoms. These are the same winds of freedom that attracted the explorers and immigrants who came to Canada in search for a better life, and the entrepreneurs and philosophers who thrive in a country which encourages individual thought and experimentation. The youth proudly raises his thumb into the air in appreciation of the great Canadian dream to live in freedom.
